While still attending oley high school, Karen was hired at Holiday hair in Oley, due to her excellent technical skills, she immediately excelled at her skills by attending advanced training classes in perming, hair color, highlighting and received a certificate for facial waxing.

Karen also attended retail product knowledge classes and continuing education courses in customer service.
Karen has enjoyed servicing and catering to her customers needs. Karen loves continuing to please her clients and constantly learning new techniques.

Shelley Hess (owner)

Shelley started her career at Berks Career & technical Center in oley. She attended there for 3 years participating in various competitions. After graduation she was employed by 2 major department store salons while managing only after 1 year into her career.

Shelley worked for 2 private salons for a total of 10 years and also was employed by a nursing home facility salon. For the past 11 years Shelley has worked for a chain salon and managing for 10 years.

Shelley has done recruiting at the following schools: Empire Beauty School, Berks Career & Technology Centers east & west campuses teaching new trends in hair cutting, coloring techniques, and perm techniques.

She has really enjoyed working with the students while encouraging them to pursue their goals. She now attends Advisory Board meetings at the Berks Career & Technology Centers.

Shelley defines success as having a great support system including family and friends, receiving as much education as you can and setting goals, long and short term. Lastly, never give up your dream and dream big.
